Averbode Abbey was founded in 1134 by Arnold II, Count of Loon. Today, the community consists of some 55 brothers, about 30 of whom live in the abbey.

Grimbergen Abbey is the oldest inhabited Norbertine abbey in Belgium. Today, the community has around 20 members.

Tongerlo Abbey is located in the municipality of Westerlo. The abbey was founded in 1130, when a number of Norbertines from St. Michael's Abbey settled on the estate of Lord Giselbert of Castelré.

Postel Abbey is located in the municipality of Mol, in the middle of the woods. Postel is one of three Belgian abbeys with an abbey cheese factory.

Sint-Catharinadal is the oldest existing women's convent community in the Netherlands. The Norbertine nuns have lived here since 1647 in the little castle De Blauwe Camer.
